Albert Einstein once said, " Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value".
Each day i've wondered, how many of us are trying so hard to be a better man. To become so succesfull and be more valuable to others? But, have we done it the right way, or we just thinked that we've done it better? To give comments to what others have done are sort of contributing to what we might think a valuable deed to others.
At the core of my being, i believe that there is nothing in this life more important than people. Having embraced that truth, i try to live it out with intergrity. To me that means doing everything in my power to add value to people. It is often a win-win proposition. But how will it happen?
From my humble opinion, it starts with our attitude toward people. The way we see people is often the difference between manipulating and motivating them. Manipulating is when we move them for our personal advantage, but motivating them is when we move them for mutual advantage. That's what i call adding value to others. If we want to add value to people, we have to value them first.
We will find that people want to be appreciated, not impressed. They want to be treated as an end to themselves, not as a means towards the gratification of another's vanity.
Hence, you can't make other fellow feel important in your presence if you secretly feel that he is a nobody.
